The "Patchwork Poet" presents:-
A School Show
Aim:
To actively encourage children to be creative using the resurgence and "Australian-ness" of this unique art-form specifically as it relates to your event.
In a positive learning environment, students absorb components of literature which complement the key learning areas of :
- Australian Studies
- Social Studies
- Australian History
- Australian Geography
- Drama
- Australian Literature
- Creative Writing
- Environmental Studies
- and multiculturalism
The school show lasts about 45 minutes with opportunities for children to participate.
A Writing Workshop
Participants are encouraged to bring some of their own work to discuss Australian Bush Verse i.e. rhyming, metered verse, which tells a story, with a definite Australian feel.
Starting with a basic overview of the structure of a poem using "Clancy of the Overflow" – by AB Paterson as "text".
